250 Million Pounds

Cherries are absolutely delicious especially Bing cherries straight off the tree.  Many think that Washington is where to find cherries but those in the Midwest would be wise to check out Michigan.  Michigan is home to some of the biggest manufacturers of cherries who have made themselves comfortable along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan from Benton Harbor to Traverse City.  Michigan produces upwards of 250 million pounds of cherries every year.

While research still needs more research, anecdotally speaking, cherries may help with some medicinal problems such as inflammation, blood sugar, heart disease, cancer, memory, and sleeping.  We don’t know about any of that.  We just know cherries are delicious and cherry desserts with chocolate top our list of favorites.
