Otis Redding wrote Sittin on the dock of the bay back in 1967. Just two days after the recording session for that song, he boarded a plane that crashed in a Lake near Madison Wisconsin. Otis perished in the crash. The song soared to number one becoming the first number one song posthumous in the United States.
